Sopapillas

Ingredients

  • 2C Flour
  • 1T Baking Powder
  • 1T Sugar
  • 2t Salt
  • 1T Honey
  • ¾C Milk

Directions

  • Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl
  • Add honey and Milk and combine
  • Turn out on a well floured surface and briefly kneed to combine well
  • Divide the dough into two balls and let rest for ~10 minutes
  • Take one of the balls and roll it out to roughly ~⅛" thickness (should make roughly a 12" diameter circle)
  • Cut the dough into ~4" squares/rectangles/triangles as you like
  • Fry the dough in shortening (peanut oil works well)
    • the oil should be deep enough so the dough can float as you fry it
